INDIAN VEGETABLE OIL PRODUCERS' ASSOCIATION (IVPA) originated as the "Indian Vanaspati Producers' Association" in 1977, officially registered in the year 1978 as a "Not for Profit Organization" under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956.

In 2019, a significant evolution occurred as IVPA underwent a name change to "Indian Vegetable Oil Producers’ Association." This alteration was made to better encompass the diverse membership within IVPA and to align with the broad spectrum of issues the association addresses. IVPA, an industry-specific association, welcomes participation from manufacturers of vegetable oils and all stakeholders interested in contributing to its objectives.
